Subject: FamilySearch.org questions
Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 09:24:10 -0500
I recently checked out the LDS genealogy site (familysearch.org) and was
astounded at the number of my ancestors for whom they had additional
generations - some going back to the early 1400's and one went to the Norman
Conquest. However, as I began to look closely at the generational data, I
noticed that on many of my lines, they showed that the father's death date
was before the birth of the son - not just within 9 months either -
sometimes by years and years.
So my questions are why do they post this kind of stuff? Where did it come
from? Doesn't somebody check the data for accuracy? It made the whole site
suspect in my eyes.
Cordially,
Tom Townsend
