Hello,
as a complete newcomer to this list I'm aware that this is a "shot in the dark", but, who knows?
My grandmothers' brother William Jones died at the the battle of Isandlwana in 1879 - the battle on
the night before Rorkes Drift. His service and battle medals were collected by his mother according
to British military records, but the Jones Family descendants that I know, don't know anything
about Will Jones and/or his medals.
Some of the Jones Family emigrated to the US around the 1900s, and I'm wondering if the medals
went with them. I'd really like to know that the medals are still safe in the family, and I'd love to see
a photo or picture of Will.
Will's parents were Elizabeth Perkins (born in Hereford, England) and Samuel Jones(born in Ewyas Harold,
Herefordshire, England).
Many thanks, sian
