My 2x ggf was Francis LINDSAY. He had 3 brothers, one of whom my researcher
cannot locate: Thomas, b 30 Dec 1848 in Tulliallan, Perthshire, Scotland.
Their parents were John LINDSAY and Helen LEITCH.
Francis married Mary FORBES BAIRD on 31 Jan 1863 in Anderston District,
Glasgow. The children of whom Maureen can find no adult record or child
deaths, are: Ann ANDERSON LINDSAY, b 27 Aug 1866, Margaret LEITCH LINDSAY, b
23 Sep 1874, and Catherine RAE LINDSAY, b 4 July 1877. Catherine is believed
to have emigrated to Africa.
Yesterday, I received news from Maureen that indicated my 2x ggps "had gone
to America" [for a visit] in 1886. (My blind uncle, John LINDSAY was in an
institution, and that was why his parents could not be located for some
information the institution needed) My ggm didn't emigrate until 1887,
exactly one year after her parents' visit, so my thoughts are that just
maybe Francis and Mary came over to visit someone, possibly my missing
UncleThomas.
My ggm and her sister, Mary BAIRD LINDSAY, settled in the Phila, PA/Trenton,
NJ area. Aunt Mary married a Daniel McNAUGHTON at the age of 50, so they
never had any children. Daniel was also an emigrant. Aunt Mary worked in a
piano factory.
I can't provide any more info on those missing relatives, but I am hoping
someone may recognize some of the names.
