One must remember when using the LDS records as references that these
records were submitted by people like you and I who are generally not
experts. Although records should be checked and rechecked for errors,
and should be submitted as error free as possible, that is often not the
case. The LDS church does not check the records before placing them on
the Ancestral File. (Imagine the overwhelming task of such a project),
thus it is up to the person submitting the records to make sure they are
as complete and accurate as possible. As has been stated before, use
these records as a referential starting place only, and do your own
research to verify the accuracy. Often times you can contact the people
on the submitters list and they may have documents.
