I had this problem with the murder of a great-uncle, which ocurred in
1906. After exhausting all sources, over a 27 year search, through a
fluke, I found the names of the murderers in an old news article. The
state archives had reams of data from old news accounts. Nothing under
the names of the victims, it was all in the files under the names of the
perpetrators.

I heartily recommend the archives of the state where the death ocurred.
