It seems to me that any time they can't locate a record at NPRC they
blame it on the Fire of 1973. I wrote for a copy of my dad's record.
He served in the U.S. Army from April 1945-Jan. 1946. All I got was a
certificate verifying he had served during this period of time and the
reason his records couldn't be found---the fire of 1973. I wrote for my
medical records a while back, as I also served in the U.S. Army from
Jan. 1966-May 1968 and guess what--they couldn't be located because of
the Fire of 1973. Has anyone ever gotten any records from there? I do
have my complete personnel and financial records that I kept over the
years, but it was the medical records I needed to take to the V.A. Now
I can't prove a thing---because of the Fire of 1973. I know what some
of you may say, "Well, she should have kept the medical records, also",
but I never had access to them. The records were sent to St. Louis upon
my discharge without my having a chance to copy them. Oh yes, I
completed my 20 years in the Army National Guard and now I am a retiree.
