Would appreciate any help in identifying maiden name of Lewis W. HIGGINBOTHAM's wife. Lewis was born 1832 in Nassau Co. FL. He is shown on the 1860 census with wife Mary (age 26 b. Jun 1834) Children: Mary M age 5, Matilda 4, Civility 1. Wife's birthplace is shown as FL, but on a later census it is shown as GA. They had other children: Lewis Bailey (L. B.) Soloman, Stella, twins Aberdine and Everline, Rufus, Ella, Juanita, Sarah "Sally" and Blanch. On a death certificate for son L. B. it list the mother's maiden name as Lowther. Lewis's brother married a Civility Lowther of Charlton Co. GA. Her father was Hampton LOWTHER. Does anyone have any info on these families?? Hoping you can help. Laura e-mail:
