I am trying to confirm or disprove Native American heritage for Albert
Marcus Scranton as a full-blooded Miniconjou Sioux who was raised by a
white family in Kansas. The names "Steals Horses" and "Lame Deer" are
somehow associated with him.

He was born 19 Aug 1867, probably in Iowa, and died 23 Jul 1914 in the
State Hospital #2 in St. Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO, where he was under
treatment for alcoholism. He was married to Edith Elizabeth Smith.

He supposedly attended three different Native American schools: Iowa Sac
and Fox near White Cloud, KS; the Kickapoo Reservation near Powhattan; and
the Potawatomi Reservation near St. Clere, KS. Can anyone shed any light
on how I might find out if this man did, in fact, attend these schools?

Thanks,
Dixie Hickey
