What area are you looking for. I ran into the same type of problem and found
the answers I needed from the local Histoical Society in the area I was
searching. Not all have web sites, but many do, for example St. Lawrence
County has a great site and the people are very helpful. My suggestion
would be to do a google search for the area you are looking for and
contacting the local society directly. I have found them to be very helpful.
Hope this helps.
