Despite all the *good* things the very commercially oriented Ancestry.com
(myfamilyinc.com responds to complaint email to Ancestry.com about spam)
does for the genealogy community - including supporting Rootsweb - I don't
do anything to give them my email address. They are habitual spammers and,
despite my care to avoid providing them with an easy fix, they still manage
to spam me. (A class-A misdemeanor in the State of Arkansas, where I live -
and I'm pursuing that course with the State Attorney General's office now.)

I'd be cautious about advising anyone to pass email information along to
Ancestry or myfamilyinc.com - and I certainly will not willingly or
knowlingly give them mine. I've a huge file of spam from them - most of it
since the last time - less than a year ago - that I fought them to a
standstill to get off their spam list. It takes months - but now I've a law
to back me and if they continue to ignore that law, I'll have built-in legal
help in pursuing it.

Don't get me wrong, Valentine, I know your intentions are good, but I think
that genealogists need to be aware of the very real problem that exists with
Ancestry.com. You'll find them on my "Solution to Spam" page, where they've
