This area. along the Potomac, was named for the man who owned the large
surrounding farm-George Washington Ball, a nephew of President George
Washington. Remember, President Washington had married Martha Ball. The site,
near Leesburg had become famous, after a battle in which the South was
victorious on 21 October 1861.
Hail Virginia.
