It's kind of like going over to England and finding them puting pepper
in the shaker with the largest and most holes - a throwback to when salt
was more highly valued. Now that salt is very inexpensive, and used
more than pepper, they still stick with tradition rather than go the
more practical route. Be forewarned if you visit there. It can be a
nasty shock to see unexpectedly a blizzard of pepper cascading down upon
an expensive meal - unless one fancies lots of pepper.
