Canadian censuses are taken in years that end in "1". All extant
censuses up to 1901 are available on film from the Family History
Library. There is an on-line index to heads of families in the 1871
Ontario census available through the Canadian National Archives.
There is a complete transcription and index to the 1881 census for
all of Canada available at www.familysearch.org. Very recently the
1906 census of the western provinces was made available.
