I'd not heard of leeches being used to clean wounds, but maggots were so used. I thought leeches were only bloodsuckers. I hope someone out there can enlighten me on this. In the early days of our country, leeches were applied to persons to bleed them with the thought that bleeding would get the infection/bad blood out of the person. Jennie
