Several states (including TX and MD) are currently busy passing laws to
prohibit genealogists from looking at or copying such
discharges. Apparently most veterans groups want these records closed to
genealogists. The TX bills are being discussed on a new mailing list
(). The chief sponsor of the MD bill is Sen. Leo
Green, . There may be additional information
