Valentine,
Thank you for saying what I've been thinking! I thought about voicing an
objection but didn't want to be accused of "flaming" so I chickened
out. Maybe if enough of us suggest it, these kinds of things will be
"edited". A notice stating that such-and-such information is available
upon request would alert those who are interested while sparing the rest of
us those loooooooong postings that have nothing to do with our particular
areas of interest. I think it's great that Ms. Maness has access to these
old records but, as she keeps reminding us, they are archived so there is
no need to fill up the ROOTS list with these entire
transcripts. IMHO Jeanne Davis

Subject: regular, locale specific posts....
the problem with these recent Susan Martin posts
and the ongoing Charlotte MO posts
is:
IF i wanted to block either of these two people
(so i would not get their emails,)
and they either (or BoOTH) sent more emails to the list
over the amount of the number of acceptable bounces for this list
determined by the listadmin -
either on the same day or not,
i would get bounced off the list automatically...for too many failed
attempts....
i personally think that an ongoing, many-post-notice program,
specific to an area
ought to be on the list for that area!
Certainly, they can post a notice - a single email notice stating that
updates to the Moniteau County site or Charlottte's favorite locale have
been made, thereby gaining a presence on the list for newbiews as well as
letting others people know that additions have been made....
ISN'T this situation exactly why cross posting is not looked upon with
favor...- having duplicate posts on more than one list?
