Some time ago there was a group of list members that were asking about the
letters I H S found on gravestones and religious articles. Today there was
an article in our newspaper about a quiz given in an old almanac from 1954.
Question #10 was "The letters I H S are seen on prayer books, etc. What do
those letters stand for? Answer: Jesus. The letters aren't from our
alphabet. They're the Greek letters, Iota, Eta and Sigma-the first three
letters of the name "Jesus" in Greek.
