One possible answer to this inquiry is www.ancientfaces.com It is well worth the few minutes it takes to visit this site. You just might find a photo of your missing ancestor.
There is a separate catagory for mystery and unidentified photos. If you decide to post your photos there, enter as much information about them as you possibly can...where you found them, when you found them, who they formerly belonged to...every little bit of information might be a big clue to help identify them.
