Margaret A. Walker was born about 1864. She is on the 1870 and 1880 census, living in the household of Arthur Conner, The 1870 says she is a white female 6 yrs old.....she was born in Arkansas and both her parents were born in Tennessee. The 1880 census is listing her as 15 yrs of age. Her relationship in the household is Boarder and her Occupation, Laborer.........Her relationship to Arthur Conner is not known?....
I am assuming that these Children, Martha L. , Alexander H. Margaret A. and Paralee L. Walker are related in some way. I did not get the birthplace of Martha and Alexander's parents on the 1870 census, and am for the moment assuming that their birthplace was Tennessee. but am assuming for now that these children are siblings with both parents born in Tennessee....
I believe these children are my clues to finding my GGGrandmothers name, Arthur's wife. Arthur Conner raised these children . certainly hope you can help me for this is my brick wall. finding her maiden name .She is suppose to be a Creek Indian
Rev Arthur Conner, was my GGgrandfather, He was converted in Tennessee and rode horseback 20 miles to join the Dyersburg Baptist Church, and was baptized by Elder John C. Smith. He was ordained to the ministry in Tennessee[ not been able to get copy of paper from dyer co.] , about 1860, and came to Arkansas about the time of the war between States, 1870 Census his wife's name is Eliza and she is 27 years old & born in Ill. her maiden name was Cosby & he married her in Ark in 1868. Paralee is 1 yr old on that census..I believe this family is related. possibly relative of Eliza Cosby or his wife before her. The info i have on Tenn is below. There is a Arthur Conner in Hardeman Co Tenn on 1860 census. if this is him his wife's name is Elizabeth ? age 35 born in Tenn. maybe these are her children by former marriage.do Does some one have access to Lawrence co. Tenn marriages?
I have a record of Ripley Missouri marriage of Martha L. Walker to William H. Starlin in1881. & a Clay Co, Ark marriage of Paralee Walker to a James A Wheetly in 1887, Paralee was married by Arthur Conner. Still cannot prove the connection. Can someone help?.
