a quarantine is a period of 40 days.
mention of Merciful Jesus Grant Him Eternal Rest will net the speaker or the one for whom it is spoken that stated indulgence ....
which is:
Roman Catholic Church. The remission of temporal punishment still due for a sin that has been sacramentally absolved ... and
Remission of the temporal punishment due to sins, after the guilt of sin has been remitted by sincere repentance; absolution from the censures and public penances of the church. It is a payment of the debt of justice to God by the application of the merits of Christ and his saints to the contrite soul through the church. It is therefore believed to diminish or destroy for sins the punishment of purgatory.

Subject: [ROOTS-L] Memorial Card
I have a memorial card of an ancestor who was of the Catholic faith. At the
bottom of the card is this phrase : Merciful Jesus Grant Him Eternal Rest.
( 7 Years and 7 Quarantines ). I have no idea what "7 Years and 7
Quarantines" means ? And this is the first time I have ever come accross
these words on a memorial card. I am hoping someone out there may know the
meaning of this phrase ? Thank you in advance :)
