Subject: [ROOTS-L] Document preservation.

Thanks to everyone that responded to my question in reguard to a
document that had been tightly rolled for many years. Several
suggested enclosing the document in a tight container with another
container of water. The consensus seems to be that I should seek
professional help. I live in a small town. Someone that lives near a
small city near me will make inquiries in that area.
I was thinking that I had read some time ago to freeze the document but
not one person suggested that.
One person suggested to enclose documents that had an odor in a tight
container with charcoal. I have elementary school text books from the
same time period that have been wet. I had put them in a container with
fabric softener sheets but haven't checked them yet. I hope I didn't
do further damage. I needed to do something or dispose of them.
I believe I responded to each one personally. If I missed someone, I
am sorry. I have been away and only checked the subject lines.
Thanks, Rose
