The 1880 Gibson County, TN census gives Sarah Howell Tims' age as 34, birthplace as MS, and her parents' birthplace as NC. Her husband was Silas Tims. A 1967 letter from one of her granddaughter's states that she had a brother, George, who never married and a brother, John, who married and lived in Bernie, Stoddard County, MO. Have found a John Howell in Stoddard County, MO, in 1880 who may be her brother. She died in childbirth about 1887, and was buried in Obion county, TN.
Have found at least 30 Sarah Howells who are not our Sarah. Have looked in MS and TN census. Silas' parents lived Hardin County, TN, the farm was in the locale of the Battle of Shiloh.
Have also looked for a marriage certificate for Silas and Sarah. Have not found one. Their first child, Elizabeth, was born in 1865.
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
