Subject: [ROOTS-L] framing tintypes

I just had a tintype framed that was taken about 1897-1903. It had apparently never been framed, a little bent around the edges but other than that in fairly good shape. I took it to a local framer and she called National Archives in Wash DC. ( It was a photo of an ancestor who was a member of the House of Representatives in D.C. ) They put a special glass in the frame to preserve it as much as possible and the specialist also recommended two thick mats of different thickness so it would appear three dimensional. I was very pleased. Lynne in Texas
