What I need, and I've been unable to locate them, are Intruder Lists.
My grgrgrandmother was not Indian but after her husband died in Ohio
in 1875, she went to the Choctaw Nation in Atoka Co. IT...now Coal
Co. Oklahoma. She was living in the town of Lehigh when she applied
for her husband's military pension since he'd been a soldier in the
Mexican War. None of her family, or her husband's, insofar as I can
find, had any connection with the Indians and I've not been able to
find why she went to IT. She died there in 1896....according to the
pension file. Research indicates the area had a lot of coal mines
and I know the area in OH where they lived also had coal mines.
Without proof, I assume some member of her family may have gone there
to find work and since she was alone, she went with them. There is
an 1896 Atoka Co. IT census but I found it was taken on 1st of
October 1896 and my ancestor died 4 August!

There were Intruder Lists for some areas, but I don't know if there
were any for the Choctaw Nation in IT for the late 1890's....I've not
found them. As I understand it, Intruder Lists were non-Indian
residents and they were required each year.

Does anyone know where these lists might be? I'm in hope of finding
my grgrandmother who may have gone with my grgr grandmother as both
of them were widowed.
