Hello all. I rather had to chuckle at this title of his thread "IGI was not
always comprehensive."

First of all, the IGI is not a "was." It is an "is". Secondly, "not
always" passive in tense, rendering this sentence more ludicrous. This is
statement of fact posed as an opinion.

It should read this way:

Contary to what many assume, the International Genealogical Index (the
"IGI") is not a comprehensive digest of all church records in the known
world. It is a compilation of those records that the Church of Latter Day
Saints in Salt Lake City was able to compile at the time it endeeavored upon
this project. There are many parish records across the globe that--for
whatever reason--were never filmed or indexed. Don't be discrouraged if you
do no find your anestors on the IGA."
