Subject: [ROOTS-L] Getting other family members Interested
Date: Sat, 29 Sep 2007 06:51:28 -0700 (PDT)

I found a way to get their interest at least briefly.
One way, send an eighteen year-old a 5 generation
pedigree chart of themselves with a few blanks in it.
Some just can't help asking where they can find the
information to fill in the blanks.
I called my son one evening to inform him that he and
his wife of 30 years were cousins. That got their
attention. The fact that they were seventh cousins
three times removed hardly indicated an incestous
relationship, but they were interested.
In my Christmas newsletter I mentioned one member had
the surname Christmas in their Family history. That
sent her to that printed family history I had given
her last year.
Be a good publisist and keep feeding them tid-bits now
and then and I guarentee you will get their interest
even if only briefly.Who knows maybe you will get one
hooked with the genie fever.
