Hello, listers. Donating old diaries, photos, tintypes, old furniture
etc., to a local historical or genealogical society is a generous
thing to do, but understandably can be difficult, emotionally.

May I suggest -- it might be more satisfying if you get a good, clear
photo of the items beforehand, with you posing with them. Of course,
for diaries & photos, you will first photograph or photocopy them for
your own files and heirs.

I don't have much except old quilts, and happily my younger daughter
treasures them and uses them. Yes, each is marked with the maker's
name and approximate date. Better to do that now while I can enjoy her
