The Michigan Deaths database at Ancestry covers 1971 thru 1996.

George F. Montgomery died 24 November 1971 in Gaylord, Otsego County,
with residence given as Vanderbilt, Otsego County. (He is incorrectly
listed as having a birth date of 3 May 1992.)
