I started my Facebook first with the relatives that I knew were on Facebook and added them as my friends.  The next step is to see who their friends are because usually it is their family.  For instance I added as my Friend one of my cousins who I talked to by phone and e-mail all the time. his friends included his children and their spouses. THEIR friends were the spouse's family and so then I ask if they could be my friend too, so the circle widens.  You can look for Friend's by e-mail address or by who they work for or school they attended if the person chooses to add that to their profile. I found a cousin in NC who was just searching for her maiden name and mine came up because my listed profile name is my maiden and my married name.  The best way to start is just set up a profile on Facebook and just check about once a week and then go from there.  I will tell you I am hooked, I play the games with my daughter and granddaughter and keep up
with several family members across the country who I usually only talk to a Christmas by Christmas cards.

I would appreciate a nice "How-To" for Facebook. Twitter was easy to
figure out, but Facebook looks pretty complicated. I saw an article
about Facebook in I think Family Tree magazine a few weeks ago, but it
did not go into much detail about the setup. It would be nice to have
some help from someone that has had good luck with Facebook using it for
genealogy purposes.

Thank you!
Have a Safe and Happy Christmas!
