Joe,

You do not need to have a subscription to Ancestry to see the information on your CD's. You can download The Family Archive Viewer here http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/abtffiv.html so that you can continue to view your CD's for as long as you have them. You just cannot view them from within FTM 2010. That's the only difference.

Please be more specific about the problem you are experiencing in FTM 2010. I do not understand what you mean by the "working window". FTM 2010 is designed into several workspaces. Data entry is done in the People Workspace on either the Family or Person tab in the Right Hand Panel. With more information I might be able to help you. Just please be specific and provide the names of the areas of the program you are attempting to work in.

For many years, I have updated my FTM but somehow have missed the 2011
offer. I appreciated Sharon's comments because I had been wondering why my
early CD's that came with FTM no longer worked. That is so disappointing
because I assumed those were my possessions when I purchased the program and
that I would have access to that data the rest of my life. I operate on a
limited budget and Ancestry's fees are out of my reach so I greatly resent
that organization taking back something I had already paid for by making it
"unsupported".

Sharon mentioned her system slowing down or stopping with the suspicion the
number of entries she has may be the cause. I have 2010 FTM and over 32,000
entries and have very slow response sometimes and some quirky things
happening. Is there a limit to how many entries FTM can work with? Also,
one of the reoccurring quirks I'm experiencing is the ancestry not showing
in the working window of a person when I know it's there. It will show up
on reports but the working window remains blank regarding parents on back.
I can go back to that person at another time and the information will show.
Has anyone dealt with this problem?
