Rather than getting advice from NON-AOL users about using AOL with RootsWeb
mailing lists -- how about suggesting that anyone with question about this
topic join our mailing list and post their
queries on that list where we are knowledgeable about using AOL with RootsWeb
resources. Just like I wouldn't seek advice on investing my money from my
cab driver I wouldn't seek advice on using AOL from those who do NOT use
AOL and have to do a Google search to try to come up with a response that may
have been written ten years ago.

AOL mail pretty much works like any other email service these days. The
person who stated you can highlight text to you want quoted in your reply and
the rest of the text won't be included was correct. But people using older
versions of AOL may find differences--and that is the reason I suggest our
AOLers mailing list for those who still have issues or questions.

Thanks!

Hi Kathie

All I can say is that the information came *from an AOL user*

After the last reply I googled how to use reply with AOL

All the many hits I checked said exactly the same thing, highlight the
text and use reply or forward
and it carries forward, they can't all be wrong

I have no idea why it works for one AOL user and not for another but
clearly some users have
difficulties using reply and carrying text forward, perhaps due to their
own individual setup ?

Don't shoot the messenger :-)
