Sorry to be late in giving my thoughts but have been gone from home a few
days ...
Dianna, in your research remember that the father could have been born in
Spain for any
number of reasons .. (military, work, travel) and not be of Spanish descent.
Hopefully you'll find the answer when you find the parents of the one born
in Spain.
Also consider that the one census is in error. Compare all the census
records from the first one
after birth to the last one before death --
