- New RootsMagic Update Available

We have released a minor update for RootsMagic. Version 3.2.4 adds a few
features like being able to print the list of relationships from the
relationship calculator, printing christening and burial in ahnentafel
reports when birth or death isn't available, and printing a list of any
private facts in your database. This new update also fixes a number of
small bugs as well.

- RootsMagic Cruise 2007

It's official. The RootsMagic Cruise 2007 will be sailing to the Caribbean
from November 11-18, 2007 aboard Royal Caribbean's Mariner of the Sea.

The RootsMagic Cruise is a 7 day Caribbean cruise with exciting genealogy
classes taught by well known speakers.

Classes will include general genealogy topics taught by some of the best
known speakers in the genealogy community, including Dick Eastman, Leland
Meitzler, and more.

There will also be classes on getting the most out of your RootsMagic,
Personal Historian, and Family Atlas software taught by the experts at
RootsMagic.

- Tip of the Month

Have you ever wanted to add a fact that was for your eyes only? One of the
features in RootsMagic 3 is the ability to mark a fact as "private". When
you are in a person's edit screen and edit one of their facts (like birth,
marriage, death, etc) there is a checkbox labeled "Private fact" in the
lower left area of the edit fact window. If you mark this checkbox you can
have RootsMagic automatically exclude this fact in various reports, GEDCOM
export, etc.

For example, when printing a pedigree chart, you will see a checkbox
labeled "Print private facts". If you unmark that checkbox, RootsMagic
will not print any facts in that pedigree chart that you have marked as
private.

If you ever need to find out which facts you have marked as private, you
can now (in version 3.2.4) get a list of all private facts in your
database. Do "Reports > Lists" from the menu, then choose the "Fact List".
There is a new option there to print a "Private Fact List". Simply mark
that option and click Create to get the list.

- Personal Historian Life Capsules

Personal Historian includes a feature called LifeCapsules, which are files
which can contain a variety of data including timelines, events, cultural
facts, and memory triggers.

LifeCapsules may be imported into a project in Personal Historian to create
topics that give color and context to the history. Personal Historian
includes a basic library of LifeCapsules, but users can make their own
LifeCapsules to share with others.

We have now put up a page where users can share LifeCapsules they have
created with each other at:

You can download LifeCapsules submitted by other users, or you can download
the LifeCapsule editor which makes it easy to create your own.

We would like to thank "Gwenzilla" for getting us started with the first
user submitted LifeCapsule "Canadian History".

- User Group News

Greater Seattle RootsMagic Users

The next RootsMagic Users Group meeting is scheduled for Saturday,
February 17, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Burien Library, 14700 6th
Ave. S.W., Burien, WA 98166, Phone: 206-243-3490.

This will be an open forum type meeting. Bring your success
stories, ideas and questions, anything else you'd like to talk
about. We'll have a laptop and projector available to us, with
wireless Internet connectivity at the library, if we need to do some
surfing.
