I notice that no one has mentioned how I keep ladies when I do not know
their maiden name. I have found that this works well for me and keeps the ladies
in order so that I can find them when I find an obituary or any other article
for them using their married name. Been at it for over 20 years.
I enter their name in the Given name space and then their married name in
the Surname space. Now to identify this as being their married name I enter
(Marr Name) in the Suffix Space. This puts them in the Explorer not at the
beginning or the end but in Alpha order by Given married name. Once I know their
maiden name then I remove the entry in the Suffix space and change the Surname
to their maiden Name. It works for me, and as others have mentioned, the main
thing is you tell people what you are doing to identify that the Surname
given is a ladies married name and not there maiden name. Also important is that
you can find them readily in your data base what ever procedure you are using
when looking for them.
