You don't need to have their software as I recall from past experience.
HOWEVER, please be aware that the information they sell on these cd's
are very suspect.
I had just started genealogy and used their online tree(I think it was
one world or such). The sad part is that fully a year prior to the cd
being published for the first time, I'd tried to get the tree removed
because I found the information I'd received from a gedcom to be false
(I believed everyone researched the info....sigh). I have to this day
never been able to remove that false information from their databases,
nor cd's even though I've demanded it in writing several times. That
information that is false still circulates in all sorts of gedcoms
worldwide and has my name on it. Hard lesson. Use cautiously as a
guide if you wish, be be forewarned, every source needs to be checked by
