If you're referring to the Archives Series CD's you can also read them using the free viewer provided on their website. As a matter of fact I have not been able to read these CDs using FTM 2008.

This is a query regarding "general" genealogy information that is on the market "for sale" (cd's,

I have been a F.O. user for years and am currently usinng Rootsmagic - with no intent on changing.
I am wanting to know if it is necessary to have the Family Tree Maker software installed on a
computer in order to make use of any of their discs that they sell? I don't want to purchase their
discs if I can't easily open it and work with its contained information. Thought some of the
professionals that monitor this list could easily & briefly answer this. Thank you.
