I have used the Record number assigned by RM in my files names for easy
finding. What I find is that these numbers change so it really does not help
me in some cases. I know that I have the option of assigning a Reference
number and that may be what I need to do. But I guess I don't understand
reference numbers and the real object of using them.

Would I have to go through all 20,000 names and assign a number? Why can't
the record numbers remain static?
