I hope you have a backup with your Mother's side on it.
The easy way is to make a GEDCOM of your Father's side by using the select from list feature. Start with him and select his ancestors. This will not include your siblings. If you want them add just your Mother clicking just her box. Pick you and your siblings and do the same. Complete the GEDCOM and then import it into a new database.
Do the same with your Mother's side and import it into a different new database.
 
To find your Mother's info, go back before you deleted her side and find a backup for that.

I am trying to split my database into two separate databases. One for my
fathers side and one for my mothers side, but so far I haven't been able to

do it. I think I have my fathers side done. I deleted my mother family and
renamed the database. I the opened a new database from my backup and tried
to do the same with my mothers side and rename the database, but when I
reopen the renamed file it has my fathers family and not my mothers. I have
redone this several times and get the same results. I am using Vista. What
do I need to do?
