This sounds very similar to a problem I have in Descendant View, only in reverse. I use Descendant View a lot for things like entering obituaries. I want to set the top person in Descendant View to a particular person, typically the father of the deceased so I can see the brothers and sisters of the deceased in addition to their children and grandchildren. And then I want the top person to "stick" as I edit various of the people with information from the obituary. In RM3, the top person would "stick"; in RM4, the top person doesn't "stick". Rather, anybody I edit becomes the new top person.
