A printed pdf file is unsearchable from scrapbook. Try putting a link in your source notes, but the file must remain in that location for someone to download it and search. Using a link to your desktop opens the location  up to possible problems.
Best to link to an online location.

Use an image file format - jpg, tiff, bmp, etc.

I attached a document I'd saved as a searchable .pdf file to a source in
RM4, checked that I wanted it to display in the Scrapbook, then created a
scrapbook to check that everything was working the way I expected it to. I
got a page that was blank except for the heading "Scrapbook." Am I doing
something wrong or doesn't RM4 handle searchable .pdf files? If it doesn't,
what formats can I use? (I found nothing about this in either Help or the
manual.)
