I have not upgraded to RM5. I have been using latest (last) update in RM4.
Today, while at the Library of Congress (about 2:30 p.m. EST) I was working
in the "To Do" folder when the registration key to my database "flew the
coup". Not only did the "to do" folder disappear, but the color coded
entries in the database also evaporated. I don't recall ever downloading
the "free" version of RM4 because I upgraded from RM3. Now, it appears that
what remains is the skeletal Rootsmagic Essentials, the free download
version of RM4 that was offered. Before I re-enter the registration key and
download RM4 again, can anyone tell me what likely happened to cause this
catastrophe?
I color code individual entries as method of telling me what I need to do to
complete research on an individual and insert appropriate matching comments
in the to do folder. With a database of over 94,000 people (many of whom
had been color coded) I'm not very happy to discover I no longer have a To
Do List that matches a carefully color coded working database. After
re-entering the registration key and downing RM4, I can only hope that my
January 13, 2012 backup RM4 file opens up properly, complete with "to do"
list and color coded individuals.
