I have been looking for "MacMahons" in the period 1690 to 1760 with
no success. I have found several references, especially in the
region of Inverness of MacMans MacManns in Black's book , some as
late as 1670, and a reference to a Donnald McMann, August 1592, from
Glenyon, in the Register of the Great Seal of Scotland. Then, I can
find lots of MacMahons and variations beginning around 1807. I have
seen references that have MacMahon as a family of the Matheson Clan.

Finally, I have my own family narrative of a departure from Glasgow
between 1740 and 1760, and I have a number of other narratives from
MacMahons departing Scotland from around 1724 to 1750.

If anyone has seen a reference to a MacMahon or variations in the
1690 to 1760 period, or has some thoughts on why I have missed them
during this period, I would certainly like to hear from you.
