In reply to Peter Grant's query about ROSS'es in Ross-Shire -- I'm looking for an ancestor ever further back:

Francis Ross, born 1665 Ross-Shire, fought for King James in battle of KillieCrankie and banished to Ireland in 1689 by William of Orange. (son James Ross came to South Carolina, USA (Well technicaly South Carolina Colony when he came ;-).
