Tom,
Upon further research (and based on the custom of naming sons for Mother's
Father, Father's Father, Father, kings...), I would suspect that your Francis
Ross is indeed the older brother of my James Ross (b.1698). Since I show
Francis (b.1665) marriage date as 1690, it is highly likely that there
were sons born before James. I also show that James second son named Francis
was a Major killed in an Indian campain. I also show a son named George,
as well as my ancestor George who was the 1st son of James (John McCollough
Ross). My ancestor George is one of my documented Revolutionary war ancestors
-- I have no information about his uncle George.
