Hi Listers,
I'm interested in all this talk about mills.
Two years ago I visited a mill site near Faochag, north of Reiff just
south of Rubha Coigeach..
I believe this mill was operated by at least three generations of my
MacKenzie ancesters: (1) Murdoch MacKenzie and Mary (McLean) (2) Roderick
MacKenzie and Henrietta McLeod and Hugh MacKenzie and Janet (Kerr).
Murdoch and Mary were born before 1750.
Roderick was born in 1773 and died in 1859.
Hugh and Janet were married in 1847
My grand-father, Murdo, was born in 1851 and left for Inverness
by 1881
I believe Janet was still at Faochag until she died in 1915.
Does any of this help?
