Thanks for responding.
It is possible that there were two Drew/Drury Smiths. The one in my
Rowan Co., family was the son of John and Polly Bryan Smith (of Schmidt
line). I did find a deed where my Margaret Smith (a sister of Drew
Smith) inherited land from her father John Smith. Named also was a Drew
Smith (b. abt. 1810), who I take to be her brother Drew. Their brother
Wiley was not mentioned, by the way. By that time, my Margret Smith had
married Isaac Earnhardt and the deed was among the Earnhardt papers..
This was in Rowan Co. NC.
I take it that the Drury Smith you reference (son of James Smith) lived
in Davidson (now Rockingham Co.). Perhaps we are dealing with two
different Drury Smiths. I had never heard of Paw Paw, NC until Sherie's
posting.
