Subject: [BRUNNENTAL-] My Grandmothers Volga - Kitchen Curtains -
Date: Sat, 18 Oct 2003 18:35:04 EDT
Hi Everyone, I was just reading the note from Sherrie regarding the fabrics
and clothing of our people. When my mother was living, she told me that my
grandmother Elizabeth Nagel Helzer always had white curtains in her kitchen. She
probably made them from sheeting fabric that she found, the special part was
the hand stitching of German patterns, i.e., flowers, etc., on the hems.
Mother also said that they were done in what was called turkey red floss or yarn,
and were the pride and joy of my grandmother. They may be in the attic of one
of my cousins, if they were found we will share what treasures we have. My
hand in yours, Betsy
