Lauretta Obermeier
Lauretta H. Obermeier, 86, of Greeley, died Saturday, March 24, at Hospice
of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. She was born June 21, 1914, in Fergus
Falls, Minn., to Gerhard and Elsie (Mavis) Winter. Mrs. Obermeier grew up in
Fort Collins and was a graduate of Fort Collins High School. She married
Arnold Obermeier of Greeley. He is deceased. She was a member of the Sweet
Adelines Chorus, a member of the Sterling Country Club and a Reach to
Recovery volunteer. She also was a volunteer in the gift shop at North
Colorado Medical Center for many years. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church,
Mrs. Obermeier was president of the Friendship Circle. As a member of the
First English Lutheran Church in Sterling, she taught Sunday school and
Saturday confirmation school and was a member of the choir. She was a member
of the Lutheran Women’s Ministry League and recording secretary of the
District Missionary League. She received the Aid Association for Lutherans
award for conducting the highest number of retirement workshops in the South
Central United States for two years. Survivors are a daughter, Beverly
Sheldon of Overland Park, Kan.; a son, Bill Obermeier of Boulder; five
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m.
Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial
Gardens. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Stoddard Funeral Home.
Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern
Colorado Inc. in care of Stoddard Funeral Home.
