Sam Schraeder of Greeley celebrated his 90th birthday on July 28 with a
celebration with friends and family. Hosts of the event were his sons,
Kenneth Schraeder of Windsor, Wesley Schraeder of of Hayfork, Calif, and
Harold Schraeder of Red Feathers. One son, Thomas Schraeder, is deceased.
Mr. Schraeder was born July 25, 1912, in Windsor. He lived and farmed in
Kimball, Neb., until 1927 when he and his family moved with three teams of
horses and wagons to La Porte. Mr. Schraeder farmed in La Porte until April
1932, when he married Katherine "Katie" Long of Windsor. He worked for
different farmers throughout the area until 1943, when he started farming on
his own in Platteville. He has farmed in the areas of Platteville, Ault and
Bracewell. After his retirement, he moved to Greeley. Mr. Schraeder loves
fishing and gardening. He has 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren
