Mable Olinda Derr, 70, of Greeley died Monday, May 31, at North Colorado
Medical Center, Greeley.


She was born Aug. 31, 1933, in Keenesburg to Adolph and Bertha (Schmidt)
Weickum.


On Jan. 27, 1955, she married Emmett Derr in Greeley.


She was raised on the family dairy farm near Keenesburg and graduated from
Prospect Valley High School, now Weld Central, in 1952. She excelled in 4-H,
raising and showing Ayrshire dairy cattle with her sister and earning many
awards. While living north of Pierce, she met Emmett Derr. After his return
from military service in Korea, the two married on Jan. 27, 1955, in
Greeley. They engaged in farming operations for many years.


Mrs. Derr loved growing plants and flowers. In later years, she assisted her
two sons in their family business as bookkeeper and all-around helper. She
was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend.


Survivors are a daughter, Deborah Diane Derr of Greeley; two sons, Darwin
Dean Derr and Douglas Dale Derr, both of Greeley; eight sisters, Mona
Arnold, Bert Brinkman and husband Wallace, and Carol Lebsack and husband
Larry, all of Greeley, Alice Wambolt of Fort Collins, JoAnn Matney and
husband Neil of Lusk, Wyo., Rose Blaylock and husband Bob of Littleton,
Irene "Reni" Jaquet of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Sherill Conway and husband
Chris of Blue Lakes, Mo.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great nephews. Her husband and parents are deceased.


Celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Congregational
Church, 1525 43rd Ave., Greeley. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial
Gardens, Greeley.


Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. today and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Stoddard
Funeral Home.
